Fastening Decorations or Furnishings To The Wall

Very often the wall hanging products that you purchase do not come with the right type of wall mounting. Products such as floating shelves, wall sculptures, curtain rods, etc comes with just a couple of wall plugs and screws that look like these.
These are the standard issue for most products that you buy. Problem is in Australia, most walls are made from Gyprock. These standard plug and screw that comes with the products are only suitable for concrete, brick or plaster walls. If you are screwing onto wood, the plug is not required. If you are screwing onto a Gyprock wall, these plug and screw are totally inappropriate.
Gyprock walls are quite soft. Using the supplied plug and screw will not last very long. You'll need to get something more appropriate for Gyprock from your local hardware store or Bunnings.
Spring toggles and gravity toggles are the best.
These specialised Gyprock nylon toggles could do as well.
Getting the right plugs for the Gyprock ensures that your fixings are securely fastened and locked tightly from behind the wall.
